Lake Shikotsu

A caldera lake was formed when water collected in the depression created by the eruption of Shikotsu Volcano about 40,000 years ago. The clear water of Lake Shikotsu is highly transparent and has good water quality, and when illuminated by light, it emits a blue glow called ``Lake Shikotsu Blue.''

Bus: Hokkaido Chuo Bus from Chitose Station Bus Terminal Take the bus bound for Lake Shikotsu and get off at the last stop, Lake Shikotsu. It takes about 45 minutes.

Lake Okotanpe

Lake Okotanpe, located at the foot of Mt. Eniwa, is a mysterious lake that is called one of Hokkaido's three great secret lakes, along with Lake Onneto and Lake Shinonome. Depending on the weather, viewing angle, and time, the color of the lake water changes from emerald green to cobalt blue. Lake Okotanpe can be viewed from the observation deck on the Route 78 side.

Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium

At the Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium, which has one of the largest freshwater tanks in Japan, you can observe salmon friends and freshwater creatures from around the world, mainly from Hokkaido. The underwater observation zone where you can see the Chitose River underwater is a must-see.
